IDK, that might be useful.
my buddies SG was charging enough to stay running, but not enough to re-crank when you got where you were going, was'nt really noticeable on the analog meter.
I'll probably do that to my bike. Yeah, it's a little redundant, but the more accurate information you have about what's going on with your machine the better. Analog gauges aren't always accurate. They might be consistent...but not necessarily accurate. If your analog gauge suddenly shows higher or lower it might be good to look at the digital gauge and know exactly how much higher or lower to help with road-side trouble shooting.
Yup...the more I think about it, the more I think I'll do the mod myself.
Yes I like it too. I might do this one too. How about replacing the analog voltmeter with an oil temp gauge? That would be nice.
Most people replace the Air Temp gauge with an Oil Temp gauge. If you want the accuracy and look of digital, replace all the gauges with Dakota Digital gauge package.
on many models there is voltage drop through the wiring from the battery to the fairing- on some models ( my '95) the Vd was over a volt and could be more depending on the lighting load....even turn signal operation.
while the needle might be waggling back and forth on turns or the horn...the voltage at the battery was fine- DC doesn;t travel well.
so not an accurate indication of battery condition.
Those really concerned with battery state of charge, can always wire the voltmeter to the battery ( fused) and use a relay to switch this on and off with the ignition.
That's what i did.
