"DIY MODS" and TRICKS to SAVE $$$$$$
The top screen template was very close to form. I did trim it to fit. The lowers I haven't installed yet, so I'm not sure if they'll need trimming as well.
I still need to out in the lower vents this weekend.
I'm tallish 6.3 and have been modding simple things on my wide glide to make it more fitting to ride. The last thing i did thought I don't feel too comfortable with.
Reversed the direction of the riser forward to add an extra 2 inches of arm length.
I removed the 4 srews holding the bar. No problem. But I wanted to loosen the risers themselve but they turned with along me turning the long bolt on the bottom of the riser. I presumed it to be fine so I attached the handlebars back. Never removed electrical or anything, just rested on the blanketed tank. Fasten the screws back up with a 21Nm Torque and proceeded to check the bottom fastener bolt. I can not get movement out to loosen or fasten them. They have a a little movement when i push or pull from where the risers are attached to the fork. I am sure any movement is a problem.
So hit me with a comment. Can they be reversed? Maybe I put them back as was but thought to get some hdforum advice first.
Thanks,
I moved my foot boards out an inch so wanted to extend my shift pegs an inch. I originally was going to use another stock peg rubber and cut it in half and get a longer bolt like many have done. I happen to look at the leftover spacers I had on hand from the 53804-06 detachable docking kit and got another idea. I used one spacer ( 53747-97) on each end of the stock peg, two 1 sleeve spacers from a hardware store and a 5/16-24 x 3 1/2 bolt. The sleeve spacers go inside the rubber only as the holes in the leftover docking kit spacers are exactly 5/16 ID. I happened to have 4 spacers from the two different docking kits on hand so I did both pegs. This makes the 2 stock peg now 3 long and adds a touch of chrome without changing the pegs altogether. I think it looks like it was made that way. Now all I have to do is purchase one of the extended heel shifter arms to make more room on the board.
my SG came with "floorboard extenders" on it, and i recently adjusted my pegs to be flat
FWiW, I like my pegs to be almost flat with the floor board, so you can "sub-liminally" shift without completely lifting your foot off the floorboard. i noticed today I could keep either my toe or heel on the board while I hit the pegs
you have to adjust the jam nuts & the reach rods to properly locate the spline shaft so the pegs lay evenly flat.
but its worth, with the floorboard extenders, you can really get the shift pegs low

I don't have the Batwing template as my Electra Glide is an '03. I just have them for my '16 Road Glide. But I have seen them while I was searching for the Road Glide templates. Do a Google search. I'm sure you'll find the templates for a Batwing.
