Flush Mount Axle
A quick question on the flush mount front axles. Once the axle is screwed in and torqued, do you have to do any "preload" on the lower slider before tightening the Fork Cap?
Normally you would adjust the slider until it just touches a drill bit, then torque the cap.
Reason I'm asking, with it all torqued up, and no preload, the is about a 3/8" gap between the fork cap and the spacer. Of course the spacer isn't going anywhere because the axle step has it.

EXACTLY the same as mine! I thought I might be alone.
Freaked me out a little. It looks like to needs to be at least a half inch longer!
I even pushed my forks in a little (with leverage) and it still didn't make much difference.
But after 4000 miles on mine, I'm over worrying about it. I just check to make sure everything is tight every now and then.

I honestly don't think it matters as the axle has a step/shoulder that sets the spacer. I ended measuring it and it was a tad shy of 1/4". I then went and looked at the old factory axle and yep, I can see about 1/4" line from the where the old cap satto the shoulder so all must be fine. Going to let it run!
You all have a safe and Merry Christmas. Stay off that green crap, it will mess your head up
