50000 dollars or miles? I swapped my 04 FLHTCI to a Andrews 26g gear cam. It was worth it. You need to make sure you have .030 or less crank runout. If you do then it might be worth you doing the roller chain conversion that updates the plate and tensioners. If it were me, I would take it apart (you have to anyway to check the tensioners) and then measure your crank runout. If it is within spec, I would go with a gear drive setup, new lifters, EZ install pushrods and be done with it. What else have you done with the bike, Stage 1, etc? You'll need to do something for fuel management or rejet.

I have an 04 Electra GlideStandard. Stage 1 kit and Bub True Duals. I love it. No other engine mods. I am not sure my skills are up to the measure part or even the replacement part for that matter. lol

Yep, need some special tools and knowledge on how to use them. Dial indicator / mounting assembly, inner bearing puller and installer, plus normal tools. Would rate this like a7 on a 10 scale.

02 Ultra, just had them changed to an Andrews 26 G at 42,000. When the Harley shop got in the found the tensioners shot which took out the oil pump. Lucky for me I had the extended warranty and they covered it plus I got the my new cam installed and now I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Gears! Did the upgrade to S&S 510's at 58,000 miles. No worries now about tensioners failing.

Well worth it for sure.................no more tensioners to worry about.

I like the very faint whirling sound from them too.............let's people know there is something in there that they don't have.
