I know the easy answer is to go ride one for myself and see. But I'm just curious what people think. I know I've grown to dislike the vibration on the Sportster.
your sportster is not rubber mounted..the newer ones areas well as all the other non balanced motors...still get a bit of vibes but not bad..but its not a goldwing ( thankfully )
you can see out the mirrors when cruising....just go to the dealer and have them start one up,sit on it andrev the throttle to about2000 rpm and you'll see
Harleys isan old Soul....... Its letting you know it still has its roots. The new ones still have some soul, but are reallydamn smoothunder flight, compared to a Shuvel or Iron head.....
I've ridden my Dad's Sportster and I get what you're saying. My Heritage was smooth and could barely be felt when idleing, but it "buzzed" when cruising and it was a little annoying after riding a touring bike. The touring bikes will have you dancing in place when idleing, but are the smoothest (vibe free) once under way.
YMMV,
