I agree w/Karl. If you are seeing much over 300, you need to start thinking about tune.
I agree w/PhilM. The bad part about it is the stock 08's are running 400 on the rear on a hot day!!! That's why Hd has a race tuner.
Fatten up those mixtures boys - give 'er gas. My PC III SE A/Cand Wild Pigs may or may not add all that much in power but it sure makes her run happier!

Someone has posted the question in another thread if anyone has figured out how to splice into the engine temp sensor on the front head to allow the use of a head temp gauge and use the sensor as the sending unit for both operations. I have yet to see a reply, but I bet there is some electronic genius out there that will eventualy figure it out.
Well, I'm not that genius and have been waiting for this info, too. The info is there and is just a matter if figuring out how to interpret the voltages emitted by the sensor, and doing it in such a way that it doesn't disrupt anything and throw a fault code. You also wouldn't want a gauge creating resistence and causing false readings to the ECM.

Did some readings with an IR temp gun back before the weather cooled down, and got around 250-275° front, 300-325° rear when oil temp was around 210° and the bike thoroughly warmed up. Measurements were made around the head at the base of the spark plug.

Did a ride with the local HOG group today, saw an accident (will do a spearate thread). About a 150 mile run up the coast, ambient temp about 50 - 60 degrees, and wet, no indication light athighway speeds, jumped on Rt1 and had to do 20 miles or so at 30 mph started getting intermitent light with sensor set at 285 so this leads me to believe thet the heads run regularly at 300 or better onmy bike especially when it gets hot as it normally does here in Miami.

Was not happy with the map I installed a few weeks ago(500miles) so got plugged into the TMAT and reduced the timing and increased the AFR in cruise range from 13 to 14 with a smooth transition every 256 rpm range. While lokked in there I pulled the warranty info and checked head temp, the highest was 2 hits at 300 but most in the 220 to 250 range, this is pulled and logged from the head temp sensor. Remember I am in miami and we are at our coldest here now at 60 - 70 degrees F. I commute in heavy traffic at times and thats where I think I hit the 300 mark.
