I'm looking for slip ons for my 06 RK. I have stock now and I want something no louder than what I have but I want to put a fishtail tip on the ends and I don't think then stock RK mufflers take any tips. Any suggestions?
Harley sells the SE touring slipons, they are about as quiet as stock and have interchangable tips. Your 06 will run better too, all 06's came with the catalist mufflers stock.
I also recommend the SE touring muffler slipons, you can add the tip you want. It's only slightly throatier than stock, especially when you rev it or get on it at highway speeds. At normal riding you hardly notice the difference. I had the same set on my 05 Electra Glide and my current 06 Ultra.
Check out SuperTrapp SE's. They're only 3 decibels louder than stock with a deeper tone and have an assortment of different end caps including the fishtail.
Heres a great combonation that works!
the tip compatible rush mufflers and H-D#65245-92 fishtails, if you can't find the H-D fishtails the supertrapp ones fit right on the rush mufflers.
#65259-00 (Non-SE, HD Touring slip ons) are the closest you'll get to the stockers, and fishtails are available for them. (they use a different tip than the SE Touring slip ons so make sure you get the correct ones)
The SE Touring slip ons are way louder.
I also have an o6 Road King dont know about the fishtails but I did find some 07 stock touring mufflers.Ebay takeoffs 40 bucks a deeper tone still pretty quiet
Here are the SE Street Performance Touring Mufflers (#64985) on my '07 Road King Classic. They are only slightly louder than stock, and a great looking slip-on:
