I spent 24 years in the Infantry. I've seen enough tents. Motels for me.
I fully agree.

Well, as you get older, the motel route is the way to go. We stay in motels but do bring our camping stuff just in case. We have had to utilize it a few times. Once, we even stayed at the KOA from Hell! Nice gravel tent site, next to an oil refinery-trucking terminal and right along the freeway. Nice crappy bath house to go along with everything!! Try to reserve rooms in advance, but some of the fun on a long bike trip is playing it by ear. Sort of like gambling, win some and lose some.

Both. With the wife it's always a hotel. Solo I do both. Solo with a couple of friends I occasionally tour with we usually camp.
I don't really care - as long as I'm traveling somewhere on my motorcycle, I'm happy. Must admit that these days a hot tub and a real bed at the end of a long day is a becoming a welcome sight though...must be getting old [8D]

I'm way too old for a tent. Good lord sometimes I can't get out of my chair!
Motel for me, plus a credit card takes up less space.

All of the above.

Depends on where I am going or at, how long I have to get there and the weather on the road.
Sturgis I did all three.
Tried Buffalo chip, at that time no amenities and way too crowded.
Did a different small family owned camp ground and they bent over backward to accomodate your needs.
For a fast one nighter there or traveling light across country motel / bead breakfast

While just out riding we use a tent in the national forest / parks

Depends on time of year and the ride. I have done both and prefer to stay in hotel but when in need of beer funds I can skimp along the way a little and stay in a tent a couple nights.

Also some rides I have done I would prefer to stay in a tent. The choice of hotels along the way, probably safer outside than in the room.

I love to camp from my bike. I can load 6 days worth of food (not including lunches) and all my gear on my Ultra. I LIVE for the summer trips I take on my bike. I can attest that there are hardly any riders, Harley owners or otherwise, who camp. I ride past motel after motel with bikes in the parking lot. In the camp sites I sit by the fire and drink beer, sometimes make friends with other campers.
I totally agree I love to camp if it is not raining something about packing a wet tent. comaradie is great with other campers, and fire and beer are unbeatable I have a friend that packs a guitar and we always attract other campers.

We used to tent out all the time, now the ground is too hard. After a shower we look forward to climbing in between a set of sheets.Sometimes we fall right to sleep sometimes we don't. Yee Haa
