Did my share of camping, canoeing in Canada & boundary waters, with my son when he was young. Now my idea of camping is any motel with room service...lol
There is no other way to really ground out than ridin all day in unfamiliar territory, then pullin over at a random river, set camp in half hour, build akick assfire and crack a beerwith smoke of choice. The freedom to do anything you want outon the land. There is complete silence, clean crisp fresh air and as far as sleeping conditions...........the biggest of three things will make for a sound nites sleep
1) The biggest cot available 2) The biggest sleeping bag 3) The biggest tent to fit your bike
These three items will cost you under 350 bux.....thats three nites in a decent motel and you get to keep them and yes they'll always be clean. Dont know about you but i would rather walk on the forest floor than take two steps on a motel carpet!! So the next mornin ya dont wanna cook, jump on the bike and hit a breakfast joint. Showers...no prob, here ya go check thisout http://www.zodi.com/web-content/Cons...emeshower.html
Rain does suck..that what the KOA cabins are for. We're suitin up again for 30+ days on the bikes with trailers and saving the rooms for a rainy day.
Different strokes i guess................but i'll take my tent
I'm a country boy that is at home in nature. The sky is my television and everything is in "HD"
I'd sooner pitch a tarp tent by a creek than stay at any hotel / motel.
Can't build a campfie in a motel parking lot??... Officer... When did they make that a law??
Yea I love sleepin outdoors! Hell even at home I close the BR door and open the window cover up and sleep like the big dog!! I even love to sleep of a nighton the front porch at homein the hammoc.
On the road I use the tent sometimes but often just hang the hammoc and crashout beside a river, lakeor stream or up off the side of some never used dirt road or somethin. I try an hit a decent camp ground every couple days, and if the weathers solid crappy then a motel. But those are very few and far between .
I guess they was just too much horseback camping trips and dirt bikein camping trips and road bike trips with camping that anythin more than a night or two indoors is like I don't know boreing I guess. Just somethin about falling asleep looking at the stars, and hearing the dark quite of the night arround ya and feeling the dew lay down upon ya in the earliest morn, shoot most of the time the tent isn't the first choice either..Gee whix the first couple cross country trips I made ona sportster I didn't even have a sleeping bag or a tent, Just a couple of roll blanketsand a canvas bag.
Camping all the way. I will be buying a pull behind trailer this year.
Very relaxing to sit next to a camp fire listening to the sounds of the wildlife, bs'ing with friends, drinking a cold one,the fresh air, pluscamping next to a river, it's somewhere to bathe in the morning.
Nothing beats cooking over a campfire. If you don't feel like cooking, there's always a restaurant or a fast food stopclose by.
Drinks arecheaper than payinga waitressto bring you one, and quicker.
It's not only cheaper than a motel, when I put my head down for the night, I know what I'm sleeping on. I've seen too many documentaries about how clean the motel beds and facilities really are.[:'(] Even some of the finer five star hotels/motels got bad ratings.
Camping is a quick and easy way to get away from the rigamaroll of everyday life if only for a few days.
