I know this should probably go in the exhaust section, but you guys have not steered me wrong yet.
I have a set of slip-ons (PCIII from Jamie and a AC) thast I got for XMAS. The question I have is do I need to use some type of sealer where the slip-on goes into the head pipe? I have searched this site and there does not seem to be a clear answer. One dealer tells me yes and another says no. What have you guys found?
I did buy new clamps from my dealer because I am not sure how many times the ones on my bike have been off/on (I bought it used).
If you got new clamps you will be fine without the sealer. The Harley clamps only seem to be good for one or two applications - after that you can't get enough torque on them to completely seal.
got this stuff on the HD website-pipe sealent 565 thread sealant ,controlled strength, for metal fittings, lubricates with ptfe. Never used it yet. Will put some on at next tire change.
