I'm new to the forum so forgive me if this is beating a dead horse. I ride an 04 Heritage Classic and while it's a great bike, it does take a toll on us when we take long trips. I really like the looks of the Electra Glide Classic and can get a good trade on my bike. The problem is I am 5'5 and pretty short legged. What can be done to get the bike down to where I can pretty much touch with both feet?
ORIGINAL: run1fsr I just lowered my Ultra 1" by replacing the rear shocks. Stock shocks are 13" ... repalcements are 12".
run1fsr ... Are those the chrome aftermarket air shocks found on ebay for $129. ? Have you ridden with a passenger since you changed out to comment on whether there is a bottoming out problem ? I'm thinkin of the same mod to my RG
I am 5'7" and I lowered the front and rear of my FLHTC I did the chrome forks while they had it apart before delivery. This time, I used the Harley lowprofile shocks on the rear. I used the progressive 440's on my RK before this bike. I am happy with both setups. I do like it better with the front lowered also. This gives a good inch and rides great...If you do a search on the subject there are some guys who get the seat reworked also good for another approx 2" and that should make it good for you...Help from the others, but I think guys are using Mean City for the seat cutdown.
I'm not sure if this is still possible with new machines but back in the late 70's early 80's it was known to flip flop the swing arm so the shock mounts were on the bottom instead of the top. Spacers and longer bolts were needed.
Yes, the 12" shocks can be purchased on ebay for $129 from American Motor Classics. They are made by Ultima, the same company that makes big displacement V-twin engines and other stuff. Fit just fine and appear identicle to the HD except the body is chrome vs. black. Had it out this weekend and experienced no problems with 0 air pressure, however, I weigh just145lbs soaking wet. Haven't had the wife on yet ... she weighs only 125 so I'm expecting no problems. Very happy with the shocks and glad I installed them.

Thanks run1fsr... i'm gonna order a pair today. I'll report my experience at a later date what with my 215 lb and the wife's....oh...I'm guessin 160.... Damn, if she reads this I'm dead.
Check this guy out. He modifies stock shocks to whatever length you want and they retain better ride quality than any other aftermarket shocks. He knows his stuff and he's a helluva lot cheaper than buying aftermarket stuff.
