I read somewhere in the Kuryakyn literature where they stated that the Ergo bar is not a crash bar....meaning that it won't help in the event of an crash???

Touring bikes were meant to have crash bars.

I added a set of Harley highway pegs that were meant to be adjustedto fit my riding style and size. Nice addition. I don't think they make the ones I have any longer.

Last time I went down without engine guards, it cost me an inner & outer primary! Got the inner off and then found a cracked case. You may want to keep em!

well, you'd better take a look at your crash bars then. the bars that come stock on the touring bikes have a warning sticker on them that reads:

this guard may provide limited leg and cosmetic vehicle protection under unique circumstances (fall over while stopped, very low speed slide). it is not made nor intended to provide protection from bodily injury in a collision with another vehicle or any other object.

I for one am PRO-highway/crash bar.
Stopped by my Indy and had a new front tire put on...decided to show my *** when I left.
Ripped the throttle...laid down a nice black strip...new front tire washed out when I hit the brake...dumped it!
Only damage was to the crash bars. I had alsoinstalled the standard saddlebag crash bar, no saddlebag damage.
My crash bars have road rash.
If anyone out there chooses to defy the odds and run without your engine crash bar...I'm in the market for one!
Chrome and in excellent shape. PM me!

I have a Kuryakyn #7888 Ergo-Plus Engine Guard on my 2008 FLHX Street Glide. It actually angles back toward the rider. I don't know about the seat/bar distance on your bike, but this bar works good on mine for most any height rider. It is actually about 3/4" in front of the floorboards and the highway pegs flip out. Their angle is adjustable too. It is also comfortable to use with the pegs flipped in. I also lay my legs on top when I need a change of position. It is a strong bar, too. I was going slow through a toll lane and had the cross arm come down on me. I stopped quick, but the cross arm had my head and chest twisted around and I set the bike on the right side. Got 3 tiny scratches on the bar but nothing else on the bikeeven touched down. I like that!!!
Good info here. I think I am gonna order em, hold em up there before I bolt em on and see if it looks like they will work. If it looks like they won't then I can take em back. Dealer said so as long as I don't bolt em up.
