Default 2008 SG Suspension - Lower the Front?

I searched but could not find anything on this.

The Street Glide comes with the Profile Low Air Adjustable REAR shocks I assume these are the 12" ones, like the Road King Custom, right? Has anybody installed the front end lowering kit too? I am surprised that the SG doesn't come lowered front and back. I thought a read a "caution" statement, when I was thinking of lowering my Road King Classic saying that you should not lower just one end.

I did install the Profile Low Air Adjustable Touring rear shocks AND Profile Low Front End Lowering Kit on an '05 Road King Classic and am happy with the ride and having my feet flat on terra firma. Never had any problems with it.

Is the frame geometry so different between the RKC & the SG that lowering the front of the SG would result in bottoming out or lean angle concerns? I should say that I am considering 2 into 1 exhaust.

Anybody have any experience with lowering the front?

Think the saying goes- You never lower the front with out lowering the REAR...

And if you lower the front - I would HIGHLY recommend going with the PROGRESSIVE FT SPRING KIT... Way better then the HD Kit

I agree 100%. even if you want to keep the bike at the stock ride hight....a good set of Progressive Suspension fork springs works wonders on softening things up a bit. you can also tailor the suspension more closly to your weight and riding style with a set of quality after market fork springs.

As far as frame geometry goes, I think that the SG and RKC are the same.....like I said I think, so don't quote me on that, with out checking the numbers yourself!

We took out a complete HD lowering kit that had a progressively wound spring and their emulators. We threw them out as per customer’s instructions. We replaced them with our cartridge system. I am not suggesting that you buy an expensive cartridge system, but I would suggest you research your options first. HD has their own emulators included in this kit. This bike belongs to one of our members on this forum. I do not know what his HDF name is but his V-T(2)win name is johnnyG. You may ask him yourself.

This system HD puts out only allows for ¾” of travel before you hit the stiff spring (that is how a progressively wound spring works) when a 200 lb rider and the weight of the bike (called total sag) is combined. Here is the actual spring, & here are the calculations. You may use the photo to count the coils and make your own determination. Good luck in your endeavors, may this information help you make an educated decision before spending your money. Actual riders weight, passenger’s weight, and gear will also influence these calculations. If there is something you do not understand, feel free to contact me @ my toll free #.

I also recommend that when you are in your front end, please check you upper & lower bushings and replace the seal. See note photograph. This is not uncommon and most overlook this. If you do not have a fork tube that slides up and down freely, than you have a suspension that does not work properly. Just because your bike is new, do not overlook this. You are in there already and what is a few extra min.?

PS I never use a progressively wound spring, I only use a linenar wound spring for predictability. Progressive wound is not a company name and all companies make linenar wound springs.

Please read my post. This has nothing to do with the rear but this is in answer to the author concerning his front end only.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, I am saying this with the up most respect to you. I am sure if you re-read my first post the answer will become clearer to you. This is not a recommendation for anything but just the facts for those who wish to know what is inside, how this stuff works, and proof of my assertions to calculate for yourself. If you wish, and if you feel I can make your life easier with providing information to research yourself, you may call me and I would be happy to explain this to you on my toll free # listed on my web site. I live in EST
