Looking for raingear ideas and am not sold on any of the Harley products for two reasons......
1) if you go with the cheaper "SETS", you are stuck with a large jacket and large pants. The large is what I need for a jacket, but the pants are for someone 6 ft. tall
2) the other route is to buy the jacket and pants seperately, but they are too much $$ in my opinion.
My wife and I went raingear shopping yesterday and got her a Tour Master Sentinel jacket and ordered her a Tour Master Quest pants for warmth, because the Sentinel pants aren't warm enough for her.
Any ideas? I am looking at just ordering the Sentinels for myself and can get a good deal through the Motorcycle Superstore with free shipping. Anyone use these and are they a good set? Looked at the Froggs Toggs yesterday and they look to be just a suit made of Tyvek. The jacket was fine and very light, but the pants were very oddly made and the crotch hung to my knees (no jokes here guys)
Used the FT's for about five years. Yes, they are light but seem to hold up (assuming no rough handling). The pants were a bit too short for me (6'1"). I did like the compactness of the FT's but they would billow in the wind.
I now have the Sentinel jacket and pants (with Nomex panels). Jacket is much more trim and the pants are longer in the leg. I would buy them again.
Im using the frogg togg road toad's one thing to watch for are sets where someone has swapped pieces trying to make a set with a jacket large enough to go over their leathers ( if a leather jacket is treated correctly rain will not hurt it. Its a coat). but pants that fit thier actual size .
My wife and I wear PowerTrip Dakota style textile jackets which are 100% waterproof with zip out quilted liners. Then we have First Gear textile riding pants which are also 100% waterproof with zip out quilted liners. We are covered rain or shine, cold or warm with just one set of riding gear.
Frog Togg Bibs work great for me in the front went with traditional pants for her. She gets coverd from the front by me. I have had mine for a few years. Seem to be holding up fine. And Fit into 1 gallon zip loc bag. That the should I take them or not a null subject. Mine are always ont the bike.
the FT's are great in the south, don't need them to keep warm just dry. I've had mine on the interstate at 75mph and they held up fine, for the price you can't beat them
Yeah the price is great. I wonder how much a roll of Tyvek is? The pants just didn't fit me like I want them too. But it's a great deal for someone who can fit them. I'd like to have the jacket and buy different pants but they are an odd camo/black that would not match anything. Thanks for the replies, though, I knew this topic would raise the dead.
Around town, I love my leathers, but on long road trips, I wear an Aerostich Darien twopiece. It IS the raingear. When it starts to rain, I just keep on riding.
