IDS Bearing failure

I think probably so. Amazing how fast we conclude that it's going to be a major problem leading to disaster after only one post with a bad bearing shows up.
We probably should be asking some V-Rod guys since they have always had the IDS installed on their bikes. Wonder if any of them have had any problems with the bearing.
I tried to tell you it was a BANDAID.
But ya all didn't listen.
You reap what you sow!!
eventually that bad bearing will ruin the wheel.
then instead of $20 try $300 -$600 depending on the wheel
Glad so many of you have money to spare and don't have to worry about it!!

I'm not crying the sky is falling, but a bearing that provides the structural integrity of the wheel design/function coming apart at speed has the potential to reek havoc on rider, passenger, and bike I don't care who you are.But again, WTF do I know?

Alot of issues come into play when discussing the cause for this potential disaster and in the beginning alot of people were doing the HOT/COLD installation which may possibly distort the integrity of the bearing and/or sprocket with said method. Some may have developed small hairline cracks while being overly pressed unbeknownst to the person pressing the bearing in and therefore cracking the lip on the sprocket itself that the bearing resides against and/or damaging the integrity of the bearing itself with too much pressure.
There are special tools needed for this job as recommended by HD and for those of US that may have found other modalitiesfor arriving from point A topoint Bmay have to pay even that much more attention to our setup versus one that had it installed by the dealer properly, and even then there is no guarantee since this could be a flaw in design, bearing, and/or both.
Whatever the cause, I just hope the effect doesn't take a valuable life with it. I said VALUABLE so alot of you have nothing to worry about if something does happen.
