Just installed a 1" lowering bracket on by ride yesterday, but haven't had a chance to ride yet. I've read good and bad about these, but so far haven't read anything about anyone having any real trouble with them yet. I've read comments like "they're hard on the frame" or "they're hard on the swing arm". Are these comments just speculations, or has anyone had any real trouble? Just wondering if I should be concerned about these issues or not. I'm a bit of a financial slump right now and can't afford the expensive air ride upgrades I've read about. Thanks for any answers, you folks on this forum have been a great help!
Mechanically you won't see any problems at all. Fender rub will be the only problem and with a 1" lowering kit you should be fine for normal conditions.
My Road King is lowered 1 inch all around, and only scrapes with wife on back set. My last ride was a n 04 Low Rider and it scraped a lot all the time.
Ft Lowered 1 1\4 Progressive - Rear dropped 2 1\4 RUB adjustable Cam.... Little extra air in the rear OEM shocks and worked well for Solo Putts - Lost a lot of cush for the tush..
I installed the burly brand 1" brackets and hd 1" lower air shocks a few yrs ago with no problems to frame/swing arm etc. Front forks also lowered 2" w/progssive springs.
I'll let you know Saturday. I'm having new wheels and tires installed now along with a Race Tech Gold Valve Emulator front suspension system on my 08 SG. I'm lowering it 1" in frontto help balance out my new 21/18 wheel/tire setup. The Race Tech stuff is supposed to be top notch and provide a truly great ride, and I know lowering the SG an inch in front won't help, so hoping the new front end suspension and heavier fork oil make up for it
