I was thinking about changing out my stock plug wires for aftermarket 'red' ones to match my bike. How easy is the swap and is there any benefit other than looks to doing so.
SE ORANGE below...exclusive boot design ensures positive coil connection...8mm wires transmit max voltage to fire plugs...EASY SWAP...with the tank off![8D] Good excuse to do a motor build.
Some aftermarket plug wires look cool, but have poor noise rejection (Shielding) which I have seen cause problems with the radio, and amps when present........
I remember seeing a show on making the VROD wher HD was inducung LOADS of RF into the bike to make sure the ECM etc would be OK--Im pretty sure the ECM wll be fine if the shielding isnt quite as good as stock
I had one instance where a fellow put our amp in and was having a strange noise issue after a few minutes--after 3 amps etc etc etc and the fellow sending his radio in for service, I found out he had changed to "gucci" looking plug leads. After almost 3 months of greif for both of us, he put his stock leads on, and problem was GONE. Not having tested all the brands of leads out there, I cant say what the blanket results will be----but in this one case, it was painfull.........
I saw a bike with some kind of lights that looked like lightning, kinda orange/yellow lightning bolts. They "struck" each time the plug fired. It was on a custom and looked great. The color of the wires never registered.
