Also if I may ask, can anyone tell me where our military gets the fuel they burn in Iraq? I have always wondered this. Thanks for allowing me to contribute. Ride safe and ride often, Mark
I don't know for sure, but I'd guess that it's bought here and we ship it over there...hey, tactical military supplies, right? Can't count on their local supplies to keep things going...

This may be off-topic, but don't forget the "sleeping dragon", China. I keep wondering how long it's going to be before the guys who run China say, "OK, you want to keep pissing us off by complaining our products are contaminated with lead? How 'bout if we stop exporting stuff to you completely? And if you try to make an end run around us, we'll cut off anyone who tries to supply you with anything." They could do it...and if not now, it won't be long.

I saw on a documentary the other day that they have a motorcycle plant that rolls a bike off the line every 41 seconds. It said they produce the same number of bikes in a year that Harley produces in 10 years. They ain't Harleys...they all run on gasoline though. And that factory is in the 3 Gorges Dam area. That one area in China has a population bigger than the US, and it's just one of their "metropolitan economic development" areas.

And ol' Boosh and all the other politicians are just frolicking down the garden path with our country's present and future...

Sorry, it just pisses me off. And BTW, our gasoline price as of yesterday (Gilroy, CA) was $3.58 for 91 octane.

When it gets worse, some bright American will come up with something that will change the way we propel our cars/trucks. Imagine ifovernight we had no need for Middle-Eastern oil. They could go back herding camels. Until then, supply+demand+speculation will continue to lead to higher prices.

Yeah... Let's ellect Hillary or Obama.. They will save us and lower the price of gas by beating down the evil oil companies....

I can't believe how many liberal whiny baby butts are on this thread.

First of all, business is business. Profits are to be made. This is America.. How dare you say the government should get involved in price control. It goes against the very grain of what makes our nation great. You want price control on oil? Move to Russia or Venezuela.

As for the rest of it, tapping US Oil supplies wont solve this problem. The fact is Oil is traded as a global commodity and demand is going up around the world. The true solution to this problem is to use Nuclear / Solar / Hydro / Wind Turbine generatedPower to generate Hydrogen Gas for our vehicles to run on. If we get enough of our vehicles on a clean alternative to gas we will drive down the demand for it and lower the cost. I am all for anything that takes the money outta the hands of Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad...

i know what you mean, gas here is 3.24 rite now. i heard the same thing about it reaching 4.00 this summer. F#CK the trees...start drilling in Alaska.
Hey Rip Van Winkle, Where have you been. They've been pumping oil out of Alaska for over twenty years. Except we don't get it, they sell it to Japan. Now sleep on that......
i know they are drilling there already and we arent getting it, but couple years ago i read that they were possibly going to set up another pipeline for the U.S. but it got shut down by the tree huggers. dont know if itstrueor not but i could see it stopped by them.

I've actually had some rather nice comments on my liberal backside...

And I must say, I agree withyour Nuclear/Solar/Hydro/Wind Power comment...and that being said,if it weren't for your opening comment, I might guess you had a bit of a sassy liberal backsideyourself !

Maybe, Its just the Jack Daniels talking but Ive got to believe somebody I don't care who will come up with a realistic alternative energy solution.Whether itshydrogen cells or fuel made from bird sh#%, somebody here has got to be smart enough to be able to figure out a way to put it in play enmasse. It may not happen anytime soon but when we do they wont be able to sell it for $10.00 a barrel. but then again you'll probably be paying a buck two eighty nine to run your scoot on bird crap. go figure

My lease expired on my Tundra (cab crew) a few months ago and got a Camry. It has been 20 years since a car is my main transportion. Reality caught up to me, and I think I see more cars on the road than SUVs and trucks.

Hey you got to adapt to your current environment/situation to survive. I miss my truck [sm=boohoo.gif]

All I know is Obama is likely going to be the next President Of The United States...

The democrats will control all branches of government.

Heaven Help Us....

I think we are ready to see a replay of 1976-1980...

I hope the nation pulls their collective heads out of their butts after that, because there will be NO EXCUSE...

If by some stroke of majic, every vehicle tomorrow got 50mpg, then the oil companies would raise the price to $5.00 per gallon.
If they sell less they will just raise the price to make up for the difference. Good luck to all[:@]
