You just have to know yhow to prepare.
step 1) open 5th of favorite liquor,take few hit on bottle
step 2)get all the small tools you think youll need alyed out on bench your working over.
step 3) take few more shots.
step 4) turn up stereo to dround your cussing
step 5)pepare to ahve few hours of no freaking cooperation.
i just did this job to change covers on rkc and add cruise control.
SON OF BIT____ littlr screws and DAMN wires every where.

Pulled one apart years ago to replace a starter switch. Damn ... what a PITA. FYI - Switch covers on both my bikes remain good old black due to that little project.

The important thing is the final product. In the end you will have a bike with a totally awsome set of handlebar conrtols.
A real pleasure to use, IMO.

You guys have got me skeered now......I just recieved my new z bars for the sporty and was going to install them, but decided to order an extended harness with chrome switches already installed.......I also ordered chrome grips so I could do it all at once.....Now I'm thinkin I want chrome housings too
So I guess after reading this, I'll make sure to plan the jobfor a LONG rainy day when there are no distractions!

I'm slightly OT since I changed switch covers to chrome and left the housings black butyep... its' not all that hard to get done but you really need to be willing to take the time and be careful. Those little suckers are hard to maneuver but are also very tough so it CAN be done (with patience).

I chromed the right side on mine pulled it all apart. Pinched a wire.Fixed that. The parts guy at Classic H.D. made me copies out of the book before I had my manual ,that helped alot. Some things to do and not do . Don't do this on your lawn or in the gravel.Do drink a cold one or a shot of jack. Don't burn a fat one .The pictures don't show ya everything.On mine it was the wiring real tight with the housing and bars
