RE: Chrome switch housing install...OH CRAP it aint easy!
Ok well this thread just scared the crap out of me. My new Bars (wild1 502's) just showed up along with the very shiny Barnett Cables. I plan on attempting this change over myself. Not even close to a mechanic but I have the service manual and not rushed since there is still snow on the ground here.
Now I did not order the Chrome switch housings because I was planning on doing them either later in the season or next winter. My question now is since I need to rip it all apart anyway am I crazy to not to switch them out now while I am doing all this work anyway???
The wife won't be too happy about me spending the money but it the job is a difficult as it sounds doing it twice may take a whole gallon of Jamesons to get through it. LOL

A little cheap advice.
First get some towels and cover the fender and tank.Real important.
Yes it would be foolish to do it twice.
What I did and it really worked good for me was, I took the bar clamps off the bike and mounted them to the work bench. Now I have no motorcycle in the way of my work, I can stand in front of my work instead of beside it, there is a bench to put stuff down on beside and under my work. Way easier to do. Take your time, when it starts to get on your nerves, walk away and come back later. You can do it. Just don't rush.
If you have any problems or questionsand I can help. 705-647-2737 is my cell.
My switch that use to change the radio station is now my cruise control and my cruise control is my station changer. Both work fine, so I left them as they are.
anybody get this done at the harley dealer? what is the labor charge?
I just had mine changed out to the chrome controls on my Ultra this past Friday. My local dealer charged 4 hours labor. I took one look at the wiring and figured I would do more damage than that if I tried it myself!

WOW 4 HOURS??? that seems like a lot to me but I'm no mechanic!
