Default Windshields - Clearview vs Stock, Questions

Hi All,

I'm about 5'10", just bought the 17" clearview with recurve. It's nice, and I can see above the windshield and still not get beaten down by the wind. Although it still smacks against my forhead and blows my hair around, which can get annoying after awhile, think someone constantly smacking you in the top of the head. Kinda makes it almost less annoying to just look through the stock 21" winshield and not deal with the forehead wind.

Maybe this is something I'll get used to? Maybe it's just the never ending search for harmony on a motorcycle.

I looked on the website and the other option up would be the 19.5" windshield, but I think there I'll be looking through the windsheild again. The other thought is to just get another stock one.

Anyone have any experience with these? Got used to it, and wouldn't go back maybe?

Thanks..

you'll get lots of different opinions on this topic - but for me:

I'm 5'10" too - and have tried several windshields and sizes. From 8 inch to stock, from several companies, with recurve and without. I ended up going back to stock. It fits much better in the fairing (not as thick), and I just really like the protection. Looking through it is fine with me - it's much more comfortable all the way around. For the winter I bought a Clearview stock size without recurve because you can use Rain-X on it without wrecking it. but again - that's just my opinion, and there's lots of others....

i think you may be right.. the stock ones are pretty solid, now I hear that some companies re create the stock dimensions with better materials (less vibration, scratching) anyone know any of them?

I'am 5'10" and have the 17" Clearview. I think it's a lot better than
looking thru the stock shield. No problem with wind buffeting, but I
do wear a 3/4 helmet and have the chrome fork baffle.
I tried cutting a stock shield down to 17 1/2" but that didn't work for crap.
At highway speed it would rattle my head so badly I'd get headaches.
I think unless you get a shield tall enough that you look thru it,you're going
to have to put up with some wind in your face.
