As far as your question, I think either black or red would look great. You might even think about adding color to the spokes instead of just stainless. I'm thinking about having black spoke put in my wheels when the time comes to replace the tires. Just a thought.
With the flat black sheetmetal and the factory gloss black frame you might want to consider power coating the rims in gloss black and the center hub in gloss black and then have a RED pin strip inlayed into the perimeter of the wheel & hub to help accent the wheel & hub...If you have additional chrome on the bike then do the spokes in a chrome if the chrome on the bike is colored then perhaps do the spokes in a flat black to give the 2 some contrast...
