Default Tourpak relocation ?

Just read a post about someone redrilling holes in the mounting bar and relocating the tourpak back a few inches. Does relocating the tourpak affect the use of detachables?

Many thanks.......

The best way is to use the Kuryakyn kit or the George Anderson kit. Here's a link to a thread and it has the info for Georges kit in it. maineultaclssic posted it. I use his kit. The Kury kit moves back a total of 1 1/4" while Georges kit will go 2 1/2". George is easy to do business with, has no website, call and he will send it and ask you to send him a check. He's very trusting and great to do business with. He has no computer, just does business over the phone. I paid $135 for my kit about three months ago. Both his kit and the Kury Kit will work with the detachable mount. I don't trust just redrilling holes since the tour pack may not be well supported. I carry a lot of stuff sometimes.

Andy,

Do you have a quick detach trunk, or is it fixed mount?

Well after just changing out my tour pack from a Classic to an Ultra Torpack I couldn't help but wonder why no one else eversuggested tojust drill 5 new holes in your tour pack, 2 left 2 right and the rear hole. I'm far from cheap but it looks like you could drill 5 holes anywhere you want in the base of the pack and be done withit and save 150 bucks. as long as your not looking to detach it that is.

Sure, you can drill new holes and that will move the tourpak back some.

OR

The tourpak rack allows 2 choices which allow about 1.5 inches of movement.

OR

You can get the Anderson kit which allows a larger amount of movement.

For me, the Anderson kit was the best choice because it allowed me to move the tourpak back enough so that I have room to run a rider backrest and give my wife enough room. She IS NOT a large person either. the first 2 choices still wouldn't allow ehough room. George is an awesome person to deal with and his kit fits and looks great. You replace the "U BAR" from the detachable hardware kit with the Anderson bracket.

I have pics if you want to see it. Just PM me.

I just added some pics to my gallery. Sorry for the poor quality.

Keep in mind that my tourpak is an aftermarket pak that is smooth on the bottom unlike the HD one.

Let me know if you need more info.
