SERT
Hey folks,
I'm in the process of purchasing a bike (used) Owner advertises "Rienhart True Duals, SE Stg 1 Air cleaner, w/ EFI Race Tuner."
I read that to mean that there is a SERT. Am I wrong here? While speaking with the owner he reads the Dealer Service sheet, and it says exactly what the advertisement says. My thought was that if there is a SERT, I should be getting a "module" along w/ a USB cable which would allow for future tuning. He's not sure (definately not aware of what the SERT actually is) I suggested he clarify withhis dealer.
By having the Rienhart TD setup, along with the SE Stg 1 Air Cleaner, wouldn't they have to have a fuel mgmt system (SERT, PC III or other) installed as opposed to just a stage 1 "flash"?
What should I be looking for?
I know,,, a couple of questions here but I'm sure the answers are on this forum.
Thanks

If the bike indeed has the EFI race tuner then yes it is a SERT. If it is a SERT then it should come with the little black module for future tuning, not necessarily the cables though. The SERT is married to the ECM so it would have to accompany the bike
Make sure you have them put in the Rinehart high performance baffles. I got the Rineharts and thought the sound sucked until I added the baffles. $120 for parts and 1/2 hour labor. Soooooooooo worth it. The sert is the race tuner
he could have had the stage 1 flash (which is a canned map) for his optional accessories installed by the dealer.
the word "sert" is used here frequently...but in alot of shops "race tuner" is used.....
thus "Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner"
so I would think he needs to clarify...If he has the Race Tuner/Sert you will need the data link....you can replace computer cables and the CD software...but that datalink is burned to that bike and you have nothing without it.

A stage one download will always "work". You don't "have" to have a fuel management system but you do needat least the download if it has a stage one air filter.
It will run better with a tuner of some sort. If it was tuned with a SERT he should at least have the module at a minimum. The cables don't come with it anymore. With the Rineharts and a SERT it would needed to be tuned on a dyno. The dyno tuner will have the cables so you don't need them unless you get a copy of the map they use and like to tweak.Other wise, if they did a good job tuning and you don't change anything, youwont needit.
