Default Lighted Rear Fender Extension Kit - Installation

Has anyone installed one of these ona Road Glide, or other bike without the lighted tip. I know there are a bunch of threads about it but I was wondering if I have to remove the tire to run the wire from it. This part number is for the Road Glide: 91066-07. I was hoping that I can install this myself.

Thanks

You don't need to remove the tire. It's easy, you can do it yourself.

If it's being installed on the '04 Road Glide in your profile, holes will need to be drilled in the fender to mount the fender extension, unless you have drilled holes in the fender previously. The fender extension uses the pre-existing holes that were previously used to mount the fender tip light.

Yes it is going on the Road Glide in my profile (2004). I have not done anything to the fender, so I will have to drill some holes in it? I am guessing I will have to run a wiring harness from the tail light somehow since I dont have a light on the fender tip.

Yeah, you will need to drill 2 holes for the tip and another one for the wiring to go threw unless the wires come out of the tip under the fender. The harness will run up the inside of the fender to the tailight and plug in. It would be a shame to bolt that tip on a nice clean fender like yours, just my opinion.

But the one piece fascia from the Streetglide would look way cool!

Didn't I read somewhere in here that you can put this on with 3M two-sided tape? I'd like to put this on my RKC but I certainly don't want to be drilling any holes in my nice shiny fender.

For what its worth and if it saves you money...

I have a SG and the Dealer replaced the standard with the light that can also be used as a brake light, (I believe you can even modify the standard one to do that, do a search) you or any one else iswelcome to my originial one for the price of priority mail, then all you need is the chrome piece... You guys are worth your weight in gold for the help!

+1 on both of these comments.

You can intall the fascia with double sided tape, butIdon't think you can do that with the tip light.
