Do I understand correctly that if you purchase a new Sundowner solo seat for an '07 Road King Classic that you also have to buy a seperate solo seat mount kit? CAN THAT BE RIGHT? Well, I guess a better question is ....is that correct? If it's true it certainly is not right. I ordered my seat from Zanotti, and it gets delivered Tuesday, and someone just told me I need a bracket kit to go with it, that irritates me to no end if it is true.
I feel your pain and posted on this same problem over a year ago. For the life of me I can't understand why HD would do this....I mean, afterall, the seat was made for the RKC so you'd think it would fit without having to lay out more $$ for a kit to make it fit! Thats just pretty fuqued up in my mind.
It just doesn't make sense and the MOCO should be pummeled and shamed for doing this to their loyal customers. I saved my $$ and bought a Mustang solo.
I'd almost forgotten about this but now I'm allpissed me off again.[:@]
Hmmm... I didn't have to buy any special mounts for my sundowner solo and pillion. The bracket from my stock pillion works fine. Am I missing something... or doing something stupid? Mine's an '03. Maybe that's the difference.
edit: I bought mine used off of ebay. Based on the other responses below...I guess the bracket was included with the sale.
Yep, unfortunately its true. I learned the hard way too. Bought the seat from a 20% off vendor, got it home and then figured it out. I was lucky that a dealer about 40 minutes away had the mount kit, which if I recall wasn't cheap. I want to say it was about $50, all for a couple bolts and a bracket. To make it worse, I finally got back and installed it, and didn't like the seat! Its beautiful to look at, but unfortunately it moved me too far up and wasn't comfortable. I had to stick with my badlander, which I hate given that the sundowner looks so good. I hope your situation turns out much better!
Yup, that bracket is necessary! I saved and bought the seat slightly used after I went to the stealer and sat on it to test. I got it on EBay for about $225 with the bracket. At the dealer they wanted $280 for the seat and another $75.00 for the bracket. It came with some stainless hardware but I opted to use some chrome acorn nuts from my local bolt supplier.
