Default Anyone WideGlide to Ultra?

Has anyone went from a WdieGlide to an Ultra? What were your first impression and compliments and any dislikes or regrets?

I went from a superglide to an ultra. I love it, my only issue is that I miss jetting around on the lighter bike sometimes, but then I lay back hit the cruise and listen to my tunes and forget all about it.

I went from a WideGlide to a FLHTPI just two days ago. It's going to take some getting used to. For now, the FLHTPI seems like a hell of a lot more bike therefore a lot bulkier. Another thing is that on a FLHTPI you sit up a hell of a lot straighter. Not than laid back feeling that my WideGlide has.

Overall, I'm happy I made the move. All of the above will go away once I get more miles on my new bike and I know I'll like my new bike more. Plus, I can finally parade with my fellow Shrine Nobles!

Just got my Ultra last October and the first thing that I noticed was the weight difference. You can't let it lean over as far as the Wide Glide and expect to keep it up right (while stopped). The Ultra is a much smoother riding bike and IMO much better handling at slow speeds. I still have the Wide Glide and ride it solo now. The wife is wondering why I punished her for 6 years!

I like'em both! Only thing on the Ultra that bothered me was my legs couldn't stretch out. Highway pegs took care of that! Steering didn't bother me going from the WG to the Ultra. But it takes some getting used to going from the Ultra back to the WG.

I agree with all but I also noticed that the Ultra turns easier. After riding the Ultra...the wideglide needs to be pushed harder into the turns. I would assume that is because of the rake differance.

Just now moved from the WG to the EGC

Ditto on the weight diff, but not too much of a problem

Ditto on the non-layed back riding position. +1 on the highway peg solution.

The WG was pretty darn comfy for me. However my comfort level has dramatically increased with the EGC especially now that the Mrs is MUCH more comfy

2003 dyna wide glide here, just picked up my 08 ultra saturday. after 200 miles, i do like the comfort of the ultra (and so does the wife.) but i do miss the zip and the cool factor of my dyna. Luckily I still have it, but I need a new batt and a tender for her.

Thanks for all the input. I think most of all the missus will be the happiest as anyone who has rode with me complains about the ride on the WG. I even get tired after a couple hours on it. I think the Ultra is going to be a big change hopefully for the better as most of my riding is open freeway and country roads. Never had a radio or cruise or a fairing so looking foreword to that for those cold nights. Thought I'd add some kind of highway pegs first along with those Kury adjustables for the passenger. The rest I'll leave stock forawhile till I get used to it. I am keeping my WG along with my 62Pan so If I want a solo ride I'll have variety. Probably put a solo seat on the WG and some taller apes for my fun bike.5 weeks till pickup...............................
