There are several different companies selling windshields for way less than the Moco. you'll find them for areound $30. I bought an 8" and a 10" for like $75 total, shipped to Canada.
I had three bikes in the past where I looked through the windshield. I liked it except for when I got caught in a heavy rain. Heavy rain would force me to stop due to lack of visibility.
The four inch stock windshield on my SG sucked so bad for me it was worse than not having a windshield at all. Wind bufetting in my eyes on on my whole head was unbearable.
I switched to a 10" fastaire and the protection was much better, but was looking half over and half through and hated that. Then I went to an 8" fastaire. Visibility was perfect (looking over) but wind flow was hitting me right above my eyes.
Now I have a clearview 8" with re-curve. Visibility is as good as no windshield at all and the airflow is above my head. The protection isn't quite as good as when I was looking through, but it is comparable and the gain in visibility is worth it. I haven't got caught in a heavy rain with my current set-up, but I am sure it will be much better not to be looking through the windshield. I might be able to limp to a safe place to stop instead of having to stop wherever I am.
Just ordered a Cee Bailey's 10". With stock set up I'm looking about half and half. Really have to sit up straight and stretch to see over it. It sucks in the rain and corners. Hopefully the new one will work out.
