I have a set of Torx wrenches that look like a set of Allen wrenches/hex keys. Got them at Auto Zone. works great for the windshield, Derby cover or whatever. They are sort of ball ended it you know what I mean. I took the Derby cover and inspection cover off the first time and every 5,000 miles since. I don't use Locktite on the bolts and it still has the original gaskets. After 28,000 miles NO leaks. Maybe I,m lucky.

This is on a derby cover, right? Or is it the complete primary chaincase cover? I'm drunk right now but have never had to use a hammer or impact wrench on either one. These screws (not even big enough to be called BOLTS) are torqued to IN-LBS. When I put these things on, I use this thing called a "torque wrench".

Do yourself a favor when you put it back together. Replace the torx bolts with allen heads and you won't have that problem next time. Most shops a an assortment of that stuff in chrome.

Any Auto Zone, etc. Just ask for valve grinding compound. It's like a gray colored paste. Fill the slot, insert the torx, or screwdrver and it'll come out. It allows the bit to get a real good grip on the bolt or screw. A little trick in the avaition business.

I agree when you do get them broke loose...swap them to allen heads you will not be sorry....as far as breaking your loose......the manual impact driver and a good hit or three should do it .......and like some else has already said a air 3/8 impact because they have a hammer in them to help get those stubborn ones out or even a 1/2 impact with a adapter should work. I just did mine and they were a bear....but i got them all out with a impact and swapped them out for allen head chrome ones.
