installed the hawg armor saddle bag protection films on my roadie yesterday afternoon, took less than a half hour and looks GREAT, can barely tell its on the bike till i show someone, a big thanks to Mikey at Pro-Finish for shipping them so quickly, now i'm thinking about doing the fairing........ when will it stop !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
a close up shot for your inspection !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That looks good. But, I'm supprised it doesn't cover all of the lid; I expected the armor would go all the way to all edges. It seems a little short. I have several pieces to install; but haven't gotten around to it. I need to wait until next month to let my fairing paint job finish curing.
The lid covers need about an 1/8" to channel out the slip solution. I designed them that way on purpose. However, the film is a urethane composite and can be stretched ~5%. For those who wish to have 'edge-to-edge' coverage can secure one side and stretch slightly to the other for full coverage.
You can also position the lid cover at any position you'd like. Some prefer to line up the lid foreward and out for leading edge and side protection.
Before you do your install, you might want to give me a call and I can give you a few pointers beforehand.
But for the most part the film is nearly invisible and can hardly be seen. It happens to show up in a photo better that it does by actually looking at the film in person.
Big John... great looking install!
Btw... check out the vendor section... the saddlebag lids are on sale till tomorrow at 20% off
bigjohn1percenter,
After a couple wax jobs on the bike post a couple more pictures. A bubby of mine applied the covers like yours, they look good. Only thing holding me up from my purchase is how they look after wax builds up on the edges. Got to see them for myself.
Road King Al...
You're supposed to use spray wax to eliminate buildup on the urethane covers... You'll get build-up on anything if you use a paste wax.
I didn't think people still use paste wax[sm=badidea.gif]... But, if you do... a soft toothbrush and a spray bottle with a drop of baby shampoo will eliminate the build-up without scratching the clearcoat.
wax your bike ?????????????? are you supposed to do that??????????? and when do you do such a thing???????? this is something i must look into........................is this waxing thing something i can do while riding ????????????? please tell me more...........
