Default Anyone replace their Ultra guages???

I am going to order a set of the brushed aluminum gauges for my Ultra (ala Screaming Eagle). How hard is it to replace the original gauges? Are the sensor cables attached to the new gauges or do the new gauges just attach to the existing cables. I know, I know, look at the service manual, I just haven't gotten one yet) Just wondering if this is a do it yourself, or a job for the Indy....

You'll probably have to reset your odometer... the dealer can do that for you.

Yeah, they told me I'd have to bring in the old one so they could set then new one when I was thinking about getting them online from Chicago HD or Zannottis

I replaced the gauges on my SG with Dakota Digital gauges. The originals were getting hard to read (must have gotten wet). The Dakotas were plug and play except for the oil temp, and are bright and easy to read. I like the look of the brushed aluminum gauges too, they look like they came out of a muscle car.

It depends on how fat your fingers are when it comes to the volt meter, temp gauge , fuel gauge etc... As for teh Speedo, it likely will have to be calibrated by the local dealer, then again how long areyou planning n keeping the bike, just be honest with the prospective buyers if and when the day comes that you two decide to part.
Rob
Oh as a foot note, ifyou do one gauge at a time, it is pretty easy to install, just see my first comments about fat fingers

It's not a difficult job; basically a simple swap once the fairing if removed.

The dealer doesn't reset the odometer; they would order the odometer from MOCO with a specified mileage that is set by HD, not the dealer. You can probably do the same thing through Zanotti's, Chicago HD, etc.

Many HDF'ers (myself included) ordered the spun aluminum gauge set from Ebay seller webescooters--prices paid for the six gauges ranged from 300-350 bucks. I took a pic of my OEM odometer with the mileage at the time of the gauge swap, then wrote that on the housing of the new speedo.

Got my set from Webscooter couple of months ago. changed out when bike was new. didn't have to worry about set odometer. have ABS and security guages perfect. go with webscooter if changing guages paid $350. great e-bayer

So I'm assuming that the cables come off the back of the old cables, and plug into the new ones?
