Default How many?

Look at 10 cylinders broke in with synthetic and 10 with dinosaur and make up your own mind.

I think that myth as been debunked many times. Many manufacturers are shipping with synthetic right from the factory including HD themselves. I broke my last build in on syn and 50,000 miles it still had 2% leak down and perfect CCC. The biggest issue with breaking in with syn is it is more money and kind of a waste but I had some jugs of Shell Rotella 5-40 laying around I wanted to get rid of.

Good for you that you saw 10 pairs to have a comparison. Maybe, after look at the 11th, you may find something different.
LMAO!

Don't know how much cash you plan on dropping, here's a couple 103's, SE 251 cams, Our shops headwork, Fatcat exhaust, stock TB, stock gearing with a lock up clutch.

Both are pretty much the same build, the first one is on an '09 street glide and has a heavy breather, the second is on an '07 street glide and has a SE stage I air cleaner.

Know its been a long, long, long time but when syn first came out I was working as a mech. and attended a seminar put on by Mobil about this new synthetic oil that was coming out on to the market. Their guy talked all about the properties of Syn and how much slicker it was then Dyno. He did make two points about just how much slicker it was the first being he passed around two cylinder sleeves out of identical test motors one broken in with Syn and the other with Dyno, the Dino cylinder looked good just the kind of wear patterns you want to see with how ever many hours they had on these motors. The Syn cyl. on the other hand looked like it had never been ran other the carbon ring at the top of the cyl. . At that time they did not recommend doing a break-in with Syn because it was so slick they couldn't hardly get rings to seat. The other point was they didn't recommend using Syn in a motor that used oil be burned it or had leaks because again with Syn being so slippery it would make the problem worse. We were told then that problems like that would happen when using a pure Syn oil. So at the time Mobil 1 must have been a pure Syn oil don't know if it still is or not. I do know that HD's Syn3 is a blend of Syn & Dyno, which is why if you're out on the road and find yourself low you can top off if need be with a Dyno oil.

Aren't the CVOs shipped with Syn? Lot's of automobiles are. It's been a non-issue for many, many years.
