Hard for you to say how much better your bike would be with a SERT if you don't have one...I couldn't belive the difference in the ride when I did mine.....what's that saying "ignorance is bliss"
ORIGINAL: norton

My bike is bone stock and it runs great, although, underpowered. I can't see a sert or power commander making that much difference. A dog is always going to be a dog.

Everyone needs to try and slow the EPA down. Click on the link http://www.mrf.org/ fill out the online suvey. It's the same survey that was in "American Iron" mag.

Harley just wants to sell bikes and chrome. They want to get out of doing any type of engine modifications and avoid EPA fines that would amount to millions of dollars.
Problem is they won't sell many bikes or chrome if the EPA clamps down so hard that we have no choice but to ride a new Harley that sounds like a sewing machine! The motorcycle aftermarket is so huge that I see no way it's just gonna go away. I think one of 2 things will happen...

1.) Hopefully somebody will come to their senses, realize what a large voting voice bikers have in this country, and back off or at least don't strictly enforce the laws. BTW, who the hell is responsible for putting this EPA stuff into effect anyway???? Once I find out, they've lost my vote if they've ever had it anyway. It's kinda like in your owner's manual (that's been there for decades) where you aren't allowed to touch your exhaust system. It's there, but nobody pays attention and almost nobody actually enforces it. There's EPA rules now, but in most parts of the country it doesn't really matter... YET. Hopefully it just stays that way.

2.) The EPA ***** will continue to squeeze every last little bit of fun out of our lives. It will take years, but the aftermarket will adapt and provide us with tree-friendly alternatives. With cars, you used to be able to buy a nice $300 set of headers. Can't do that on a newer model, but you can buy a $900 pair w/ O2 sensor holes that are emissions-legal. Hell, SLP made an entire business engineering "Street Legal Performance". So if things continue the way they're going, we're probably in for several dark years... but the aftermarket will catch up and provide us with products we can use without getting thrown in jail for killing a tree limb.

I'm hoping for path #1!!!

Default Off the subject...

2006streetglide:

I just have to say that your bike is one of the best specimens of HD that I have seen -- great touches of chrome and nicely understated. Well done....

Dont worry about harley going down the tube. They only made 5 billion in 2005. So if they only make 4 billion this year they should be ok. LOL LOL. $ 28.00 for a Tshirt with a dealers name on it. I think I need to get my head examined. LOL again. Bob.

Well hold on to your old bikes cause they will sure go up in value when the newer ones can't be modified. Just like older cars, that don't have to have all the crap on the engines the new ones do, are still legal.
