It all started last Monday when we left Connecticut for the Dragon and two hours into the ride we hit rain in Pennsylvania.
After pulling over on I-81 and putting rain gear on we started off again.
Then came the terrible, dreaded wobble, all too familiar after a couple of flats.
Luckily, I made to to an overpass because it was pouring.
There it was, a flat rear tire.
I called HOG assistance and the hardest part of the whole deal was describing my exact location, under the PA 39 overpass.
Once the location was determined, the operator said the closest dealer was 3 miles away.
A short time later. Mark from Susquehanna Valley HD arrived on the scene, placed my Ultra in a trailer and off to the dealership we went.
To make a short story, shorter 2 hours and 10 minutes later we were on our way at no charge, you see I purchased the tire and wheel package with my warranty.
After reading several posts about what a waste of money the HOG programs and warranties are I thought I was foolish.
Well, I don't feel that way anymore because they more than paid for themselves that day.
Thanks to the guys at Susquehanna HD for all their help.
2400 miles later I can rest easy knowing that if I break down again help is just a phone call away.
Your story is encouraging, \\; \\; coincidentally I was researching the HOG assistance tonight as we're planning for a +5K mile trip in two weeks.
I had zero luck with it. We were doing a 9 day east coast trip leaving Michigan over the 4th of July weekend last year. Long story short, we had an electrical issue and were straded in Mass. tried to call HOG, no answer, tried every 5 mins for a half hour still no answer..... ended up getting a phone book from a local and was able to get a flat bed out to help us. I no longer am a HOG member.
Glad you had help, and it all worked out for you, thats great. I hope that we were the exception to the rule. \\;
Yep, had a flat on I-95 in Fredericksburg Va last year and waited 4 hrs for a tow. To be fair, it wasn't HOG's fault, it was the POS tow company that told them they'd be there in 20 minutes. After numerous "they aren't there yet?" conversations with Road America, they called another tow and twenty minutes later I was picked up. Got towed and a new tire and never saw a bill. For the price dealers want for a tire and mounting, I figure I've got my money back on the first flat, not to mention the tow. \\;

Same for me over the 4th of July. \\; Our wait was one hour but the tow truck had to get permission to get on \\;the blue ridge parkway and we were about 30 minutes south of the major hwy so I was more than happy with their service.

My complimentary first year H.O.G. membership is running out, and they sent me a renewal notice - $45/year to renew. \\; The only thing about my H.O.G. membership of any value to me is the roadside assistance - all the rest is just HD propaganda.
I insure both my bikes with Progressive, and I decided to look at what adding roadside assistance to my policy would cost - $10 per bike per year. \\; No brainer - for less than half the cost of H.O.G. membership, I added roadside assistance coverage for both my bikes.
