You know, there are a lot of great service providers out there that offer outstanding service. Hopefully they realize this by the amount of warranty work they have to do after their service.
Tony & Maria @ Iron Cross are probably the nicest folks I've ever done buisness with! What other company would allow you to hand deliver your components to their house on a Sunday morning?! Even asked if my boy & I would like a coffee! And on the way out, hooked us up with their T shirts!
The only complaint I have is that the radio has worked flawlessly since they did the upgrades, so I haven't been able to talk to them! Maybe I'll just give them a call to say HI!!!!
I wear the shirt with pride & everytime I'm asked what the company is, I tell them it is the BEST place to have your H/K radio fixed correctly!
I don't know if anyone else has this problem but when i first start the bike the radio will come on and work but for say 20 seconds i can't change anything with the radio, none of the buttons work.
Why don't people read this thread through BEFORE asking the same questions that 100 people before them asked?
I have a 08 Ultra with the exact same audio loss problem. Had one HK stereo replaced under warranty for same issue, now of course its out of warranty and the same issue AGAIN.
Guess I'm calling Iron Cross too. It's just really SAD that this is the "Best" bike Harley can build, and there is OBVIOUSLY a problem with these stereos and the MoCo chooses to just turn a blind eye and let their customers suffer and pay the cost.
$24,000 bike with a $1000 stereo, and this is the best they can do....
Guess they figure they're King of the world, and their Peon customers just don't matter.
Listen folks, the HK radios are junk... I bought a 2010 FLHTK in July 2009 and before I sold it in Sept 2010 it had gone through 3 HK units all with different problems. The bike has now gone through the 4th one that I paid Iron Cross $$$ to put blue lights in it to match the Dakota Digital guages. I should of had them at the time fix the damn thing (they suggested it) so the new owner would not have too.
I have a buddy that went through 2 units and on the 3rd one he sent his off to IC. and has not had any problems what so ever.pay the money to get it fixed right, or deal with it. it's really that simple
I agree it really is that simple--except you shouldn't HAVE to pay the money to get it fixed right. It should be fixed RIGHT when you plop down $24,000 for a new "top of the line" bike.
And to add to the aggravation, the dealers STILL act like they don't know there's a problem with these units.
Why, after describing the problem and reading the EXACT same problem/symptoms on this board hundreds of times, do they STILL insist that the problem must be duplicated in their shop or there is no problem?
I've read hundreds of posts where the dealer seems completely oblivious to this audio loss problem, after YEARS of complaints. Do the dealers go home every evening and stick their heads in the sand? Don't they ever read a forum board and at least make an effort to see what the customers are saying?
Sorry---still venting.
we are on our 4th radio on our 2010 ultra glide limited.... our dealer has been replacing them under warrenty... which will run out in july...
our radio would play then sound would not.... hubby would flip the switch and it would play....then back off and so on and so on....
last radio that was put in was one of service techs at our dealer...and it played 2 weeks and off it went not to come back on again.... so they thought it might be a wiring issue...but that turned out not to be the case...but a bad radio... so our 4th one is being ordered..... but one good note i guess if you plug your head set in you can hear the radio...
why don't they fix the issue... put in a new brand or something...this is nuts...
