Anytime I pull an electrical connection apart on the bike I clean it and push some dielectric grease into the connection before reassembling it. Keeps out the moisture and I've never had a problem.
I called Tony at Iron Cross Audio on Thursday, I told him about the problems with my radio and that when I did the diagnostic check it give me code B2017. Tony said that 2008 was suppossed to be upgraded for vibration because thats what it sounded like. He told me to check the brackets for cracks which I had already done.
I sent my radio off Saturday morning, if everything goes right they will address my concerns and upgrade and update everything and return it possibly by Friday.
I don't listen to the radio much and decided to turn it on one day and no sound.
After replacing two radios the dealer finally identified the problem as a bad starter relay, sounded highly unlikely to me. For whatever reason the SR occasionally goes out in my 1994 and effects the radio.
I also have the same problem on my 06 Street Glide, no sound with the open speaker error. I am going to get into it today and try to figure it out. Any suggestions on a possible solution would be helpful.
Got my radio back this morning from Iron Cross Audio, they addressed my no sound issue and installed a anti-vibration modification, replaced defective auxillary gromet, reinforced the J900 connector & auxillary plug, inspection of SDRAM and reworked, inspected PEM nuts, verified faceplate PCB liquid modification, and verified 8.19 software. I also went for the 1 year warranty.

Ditch the HK POS and see Biketronics for a Sony replacement that utilizes the stock hand controls.
"If for any reason the radio locks up during the update, don't panic! You will need to take the bike for a ride with the CD flap open and in approximately 20 minutes your radio will eject the CD. If the CD door is closed, the CD cannot be ejected, will go back into your radio and lock up again."
