Default Neutral Safety Switch

I want to install a neutral safety switch on my 05 Ultra. Has anyone done this and is there a kit available?

If not it looks like it would be fairly simple to put a NO Relay in line with the starter switch and energize it with the Neutral Safety switch.

Seems odd that HD doesn’t have this as standard equipment

You might as well add a jiffy stand is down switch too. Then when one fails and your bike doesn’t start you can try and guess which one of them failed.

Sorry, I’m just joking around.

If you shut it off in gear (and you will) it can be tricky to find neutral unless you can roll the bike and the light does not always come on when you are in neutral - Better to always engage the clutch when starting - I don't trust the light - Every bike I have ever owned I make sure I engage the clutch, start it and then slowy let the clutch out to make sure I am not in gear - Wish I could point you in the right direction but I have not seen this mod done before

This is standard on the Buell Blast. Bike will start but when you let out the clutch it will die.

Not sure about the neutral switch, can't remember all the way back to my Riders Edge course.

I always park mine in gear. I have never had trouble getting to neutral with the bike off. Running is another matter.

My EG police has a clutch safety switch, the clutch must be pulled in to start the bike, even in neutral. I always park my bike in gear, before i start it i find neutral, roll it back or forward to be sure, then pull the clutch in,hit the start button. no need for a neutral safety switch here,no power to the starter till the clutch is pulled in.

My 03 FLHTPI has or should I say HAD a clutch safety switch. I went to a Magura hydraulic setup, and me HD Guru had to warn me I lost the safety feature. To tell you the truth I am so used to pulling the clutch in to start the jap bikes it is second nature to me.

I have the left side cable clutch control in my toolbox... next time I have a chance I'll check it out and post a pic if the switch. I suppose you could cut the wire for the starter button on the right side, run it across the bike in and out of the FLHTP lever holder then back across the bike to hook back into the starter solonoid wiring.
