I got a call from a female that works in the service dept of my local dealer. She proceeded to tell me about the recall, and that I would be getting a letter from the MOCO shortly, and that because I bought the bike from them, they (the dealer) had already ordered the kit for my bike a few days before. What she didnt know was that I already did the job myself....replaced the canister, and o-ring....and the SM at my dealer did all the paper work so my VIN when checked would indicate that this recall campaign service was completed already.
I think that due to the design I will change that canister at the 25K mile interval when the fuel filter is due for changing.....even if it is the new improved one.....Zanottis sells them for $19 IIRC....so what the hell, its cheep insurance.
I'm surprised he would do that for 2 reasons. The call I got from HD Customer Service said NHTSA required the dealer to change it. And unless he turned it in anyway they won't get paid for the labor. I'm guessing he turned it in anyway
