Just in case others may have a similar problem. If you're folicly challenge, this post isn't for you.
My wife complained of itching head under her helmet. She tried the dew rag approach which helped. Over a year ago while riding in the Phoenix area, in a great moment of desparation which caused us to stop in a Walgreen's and were directed to their product called "Scalp Relief", maximum strength. I tell you what - immediate relief!! Which was great for the ride was about to come to an end.
As I don't consider Walgreens an innovator, more a copier, the active ingredient is 1% hydrocortisone. There are probably other brands of product out there with the same ingredient. This one is a thin liquid that she applies directly to her scalp by sliding the nozzle thru her hair and squeezing ever so slightly.
I am bald and offended that you called me challenged, I can always use this stuff on my crotch. Us bald guys are not handicapped, we are handicapable dammit.

try to keep from replaying the episode where cartman had head lice and you'll be just fine. tried scalpicin, dried out my hair like crazy for about half an hour, then got ta itchin again, decided to go into the nearest rest area and do the hillbilly thing and wash my head under the faucet, got rid of the scalpicin, but no idea as to a total cure, unless i can wait till i become more folically, handicapable.
Thanks for the tip! They make shampoo with the same active ingredients (hydrocortizone). You can get it at Wal-mart or Walgreens in the shampoo aisle by the Head and Shoulders
A friend of mine who rides talked to one of his buddys who is a dermatologist about itchy head. The dermatologist recommended 3 things.
1. Keep your hair / scalp clean. A build up of oil, sweat; dirt etc can cause your head to itch.
2. Use a good scalp and hair conditioner when washing your hair.
3. Wash the liner in your helmet. The liner can hold oils, dirt and other funk that can cause your head to itch if is not cleaned regularly
