I tried the Dyna Wide Glide bars, don't bother, they look and feel like crap. The Roland Sands "Glider" bar didn't offer any more rise or pullback. The Paul Yaffe bars were a 4-6 week wait.

So I decided on Carlini's Chino Apes. They have a 12 inch rise and are not quite 1" narrower than stock bars.

Believe it or not, we did not have to change one cable or splice any wires. There is enough wiring to play with if you remove the fairing and remove some of the slack there. Only thing we had to do was re-route the clutch cable.

The stock RG handlebar placed me too upright and pulled me too forward. I am between 6' and 6'1", and have a 32" inseam.

I have been very happy with my Deuce handlebars. When I bought the Deuce in 2000, I also purchased the HD Deuce pull back risers. With a corbin seat and backrest, my hands just drop down on the bars, with arms slightly bent at the elbow, but overall horizontal to the groud.

I did not get my customary "drop down" feel on the RG bars. As an experiment I got the bars to lay flater. Pushing them down also brings the grips closer to you. My Mustang solo seat with backrest holds me in place. My hands now just drop down on the grips. I would like them 1/2" closer. But for now with this adjustment, the stock RG handlebars do just fine for me.

BigDaveOnBass - took the RG out for a spin on Saturday (it got to 50 degrees here in Vancouver) and I have to say I really like the Chino Apes. I have them set up such that they lean a little forward than in-line with the forks. Positions me with a slight lean forward. I think for long multi-day trips I woudl pull them back a little which woudl have me sitting straight up.

great thread.

I'm 6'5" with a 36" inseam, and big old size 14's. I weigh 230.

I'm looking for something that won't be too close to me, sits up higher, and won't snap the windshield off when I lock the fork.

Any suggestions?

I'd also *really* like to keep the stock cables, if I can.

This is the start of my 2nd season with my 08 Roadie, and I'm "pimping" it a bit.

Thanks all - this forum is the best!

iam 6'5''' with 34'' inseam, 08 road glide, mustang solo seat, went with the wild chubby wo515,(10'' baby apes) no cable changes needed, i have only ridden a couple of hours with them, but they seem to fit me much better than stock, and look great ....i need to update my pics.

I find the stock handlebars about 3/4" too far forward. I am about 6'1 with a 32" inseam. I've tried tilting the bars down which brings them further back. Better, but not perfect.

I have a Deuice for pimping, so I am really focused on long distance touring with my Road Glide. I want my RG to be "nice" but don't want to put the $$$$ in to totally pimp it out.

So my wants for my 2008 Road Glide are
  • no new cables (keep 'em stock)
  • do not hit the windshield at full lock
  • 1" back (toward the rider)
  • put my arms out relaxed and have my hands drop on the handlebar grips

I've looked at picts on bars mentioned that "don't need" new cables, and don't hit the windshield at full lock. But the cables are not along the bars, but going down at a 45 degree angle which I don't want. For example

I read the entire post and did not see where anyone answered that they had put the +2 sweepers from Krome Werks on an 09' RG.

If they did, were the stock cables usable?
