Has anyone put the Electra Glide seat (which moves you forward) on and tried it with the stock RG bars. They seem like comfortable bars, just too far away. And I'm 6ft.
Plus that EG seat is comfortable (for me) AND it would put you closer in behind the fairing so less buffeting that everyone talks about (re; RG's)
Ok... you have my attention. I just purchased a 2003 RG and I have to use the backrest. I have the back rest all the way forward but if I lean back on the rest, I have to keep my arms straight to reach the bars. I need at least 3 inches of pull back for me to have a comfortable ride. Will these bars do this for me? Thanks for the reply, Mike
Hello all, new member here. I've gotten more info here than talking to any dealer. This site is great. I have a question about the TBW harness on the 09 models. Does the 09 RG have the TBW sensor with or without the green plug. I'm installing the wide sweeper +2 on my 09 cvo RG and need to know if I'll need to get the NAMZ extension kit and if so which one, or the factory model (PN 32310-08). I'd rather have all the parts needed before I tear into it. Thanks
I put those bars on my 09 RG. There was enough slack in the TBW wiring that I didn't need any wiring extentions. The only downside to changing the bars was taking off the other fairing to get to the TBW wiring. Putting those bars on is well worth the trouble. One of the bests mods I've made to my bike. Good luck.
Wow. As a newbie, I'm amazed at the wide variety of handlebar options. I'm having a problem and hopefully someone can guide me in the right direction.
I purchased a 2009 Road Glide and have since herniated two discs in my neck. The riding position now prohibits me from being able to lift my head enough to avoid shooting pains down both arms and my shoulder. Net, I need to find a way to ride much more upright. I'm not looking to raise my arms. I like the height of the stock bars, but I need to move them back a few inches.
At this point, I'm not looking for a cheap alternative but rather the best alternative that will enable me to ride again. I really miss riding.
I'm 6' with only a 30 inch inseam. I have a lot of pain bending my head backwards due to leaning forward on the controls, so upright with about a 90 degree bend in my elbow is all I need.
What would you recommend to bring me backwards? I'm OK with new cables if needed, but I assume that adds another HD$100. I will need to have the dealer install, so I want to make sure I get it right the first time.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Also, why would some people mention preference for 1.25 inch diameter bars instead of the 1 inch stock?
Thanks again. So much knowledge on this site that I'm sure someone can help me get back on the bike.

You might consider the backrest to stabilize your riding position first, then start making adjustments with the bars.
I'm 6' with a 31" inseam, and found the HD adjustable (or any brand) backrest fixed almost all of (what I thought were) my handlebar issues.
After I loosened the stockers up enough to rotate them back about 1/2", I'm in almost the perfect position.
I had no idea just how much I slouched as I was riding, which was causing my back issues.
So cal pappy had Wild 1 mini apes on his RG. When I got my RG last year, I hated the stock bars. Over the winter I switched over to the mini-apes and never looked back. I recomend them to anyone.
Do you have any pictures you can post. I have been thinking of changing out the bars on my glide...
