There is probably a wire tie somewhere holding your loom tight. I've had my fairing off several times. I cut a few ties and pulled the wiring out so I had more slack. Bending the brake line is no big deal. I did that on my WG bars. This time I replaced the stock POS line with a braided line that looks awesome. I also routed my clutch cable outside the forks and inside the crash bar and clamped it to the side of the forks.
PM me if you think I can help in any way.
Just got home from the Oyster Run in Anacortes, Washington. I swear to GOD, there must have been 40,000 bikes there. It was HUGE. Weather was fantastic.
Steve
thats exactly what it was...figured it out that night just didnt post up. i ended up removing the outer fairing and rearranging the wiring and it was fine.
I love these bars!!!! Ive put 1000 miles on my bike in 12 days and have been amazed how much better they are!!! Plus they look great too

Glad you got them installed and like them. Got any pictures? I always like to "see" the results.
Have a new09 rg and bars suck (as ya'll know). Just opened box with new wild 1 517's. Not for me. Didn't even take the tape off. Someone said look like wheel barrow handles and i agree. From what i hear, think i will try the heritage bars. I need the 2 " higher and 2" closer. Someone said that was pretty much the change. Will work for me...
Of the lot, my 5'9", 32" inseam self preferred the Heritage bars; but I still need a bit more pullback or rise. The Wideglide looked good on paper, but the end-rise (a measurement not known to HD) dropped them way down and put my hands at an odd angle. The Custom bars really, really sucked - the "slight buckhorn" (slight my a$$) had my hands down by the tank!
The above measures are from HD. Unfortunately, HD and some aftermarket mfgrs measure in different ways, e.g. Khrome Werks. So it's pretty much impossible to compare just by using the specs.

Part Number Width Base Rise Pull Back
300504 31.57 8.5 10.92 7.54 +2 Wide Sweeper
300505 34.07 12 10.83 7.84 +2 E-Glide Sweeper
My question is this: has anyone had a chance to compare (acutal use or side-by-side) the Heritage bars and the Khrome Werks 300504 bars?
That is a very good question that I wish I could answer. I'm willing to put my bike next to a RG with heritage bars in order to compare. I live neat Portland, Oregon.
You are right on about the WG bars. I had them for several month. You can't pull them back or the ends drop down too low.
All I can say is that I am happy with the KW bars. No more sore shoulders.
Well, even tho I grew up just south of you in Sheridan, and worked briefly/painfully for Intel over in Hillisboro, my current location of Colorado Springs combined with the bloody cold temps make that a bit un-doable!
Mine are powder coated Yaffee bars. Went with these after a 300 miles ride with stock bars that tore my shoulders up. Very comfortable and no need to change cables.

I just installed the Heritage bars, 56902-08, and they are great! What a difference. BTW Harley does list end rise, but they call it outside rise. Look on page 593 of the P & A book. The end rise of the heritage bars is 12".
installed set of heritages on rg today. much better. can sit up straight without cramping in shoulder. + hd bars for under 100 bucks? unbelievable...of course i stripped out one of those cheesy chicken-s**t fairing screws in the process. oh well. have to take to dealer this sat. for 1k service. will have them repair.....
