Angry Crashed last evening

I'm really bummed out this morning. I was comming home from the dealer and it started to rain. Some cage comming from the other direction turned in front of me. Well not "right" in front. He didn't actually cause the crash. It was close enough that I was pi$$ed. I was looking at him as he drove away. When I turned back, there was a car stopped. I hit the brakes but it started sliding. I knew I wasn't going to stop in time so I tried to steer it between the car and the curb. Well that didn't work. I did live to tell about it though. I only got 12 stitches in my face and some sore ribs and neck. Damn rain. Still my fault. Actually the cops came to the hospital and said that I would get a fine in the mail because, they always give a fine to the person at fault. Insult to injury. Bummer.

Please tell me your bike didnt have the ABS option. Its in cases exactly like this where having the ABS may have saved you some down time. I didnt opt for it on my 08' SG, but then I almost NEVER ride in crappy weather, and when and if I do I am 110% on point.
Do you think there is anything you could attribute the incident to.....say worn tires....or a bit too tight a grip on the front binder?

In any case your OK.....thats what counts. No busted bones or nothing. You will be able to ride again in a short time.

Well I hope the bike aint too bad, and I hope you can get it fixed quickly, get it back on the road, and have the insurance co pay for it all. Good luck with everything. I wish I could do more for you......going down sucks royally.

And then cops wonder why people have a negative view of them.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Make sure to get a broken wings patch and join the C.O.B.B. Thank God I'm not a member yet. Hope the Bagger survived okay.

Good to hear your injuries are not too serious.
You can always fix or replace your ride.

Glad your OK. The bike can always be fixed.

Riding in the rain.. traction drops to 80%. Drive like your drivng the car in the snow. Everything is one event. Don't down shift and brake at the same time. If you plan on riding on any long road trips you got to get comfortable riding in it and have good gear to boot.

On my aborted trip to Alaska it rained every day from Calgary BC to Winnipeg MAN on the return leg. I didn't take the RK on this trip as I had some offroad travel plans. When on the road there are times you just have to grin and bear it. The gear I had on this trip sucked! It added to the stress of the trip.

Don't be too hard on yourself.... maybe it hadn't rained in awhile and the road was slick with oil.

Some ill-advised departments require a summons to be issued at an accident scene because "someone must have been at fault." This wasn't something we in the NJSP had to do, but I knew of several local departments where this was the case. I had a personal experience with this stupid policy myself. About a year before I started my police career, I rolled my '67 Triumph GT6 in a rainstorm. The local police officer who was investigating the accident handed me a careless driving ticket while I was lying on a stretcher and being loaded into the ambulance! Talk about a kick in the nuts!

hammerhead32158: Sorry about your accident, but glad to know you survived it relatively unscathed. If the insurance company totals your bike and you buy another, consider ABS. Your accident was the kind of scenario where ABS would very likely have saved the day.
