Does any one have any problems with there 06 roadglide windshield ? The rubber gasket keeps sliding out from under the windshield and is flapping in the breeze and the windshield is also rubbing on the inner fairingand rattling when I hit bumps.
When I picked up my Road Glide I noticed one corner of the rubber gasket about 3 inches long was hanging loose.
I unscrewed the windshield and pushed it back in and made sure all of the screws were tight.
Have not had any problems since then.
I have been asking the same questions (doing a front end swap 0 FLH to a road glide) some riders here say to make sure all is clean and use a dab of silicone in the grove... some say to swap out with a Cleerview windshield... 1/16 thicker plastic and tighter rubber ??? as far as the rubbing on the inner??? I also have seen this... I am sure other roadglide owners will jump in here and give their views... I would like to find out what "slows" this problem down...
Seems like we just had this conversation... This seems like a problem that is more common to the '04 & later RG's. My '02 never had this problem. I used a dab of Shoe-Go to resolve the porblem. Silicone will do the same thing.
Also, like Harley0711 mentioned, the Clearview is not supposed to have this problem. After looking closely at them, I think I'm gonna try one. Not necessarilly because the trim stays on, but because I am suppoesed to beable to get same or better deflection from a shorter windshield with their lip on the top. Also, I like the way a tinted windshield looks vs. the clear one.
I am sure there has to be others with this problem. The dealer has the bike now as I took it in for them to fix it. I went to pick up and they tried to use silicone in the groove and had silicone everywhere and the right side rubber was hanging off instead of the left side that I took it in for. I told them to keep the bike and fix it right.
