Have a pair of Samson BG-3 upswept FTails on my SE softail. Nice fit-well chromed-cool sounding exhausts.

Was considering a second set of Samson's on wife's Deluxe. Guess I better quit while I'm ahead !

Years and years ago they were the thing to have. I think they just grew too fast to be able to manage their success. Quality bites now, as does their customer service. When you have non-biased service managers telling you to buy anything other than Samson, you know there's some problems. Personally, I like to shy away from potential problems on parts I'm putting on my scoot...

I still think Samson makes the best looking True Dual system in terms of that nostalgic/gangster type look.

I haven't had them but have heard the warnings both for the same problem which is after they'er a year old the mounting brackets break. One guy said he even bought a second pair thinking it was a limited flaw because he liked the sound but those broke to & Samson wouldn't make good on it. After hearing these warnings I never wanted to buy any.

Default What about the new Sinister Blacks?

Anybody have any experience with the sinister blacks? I didn't see anything posted about them. Have an '08 Road king in White Gold Pearl and have planned on a black/white setup, over this coming winter, starting with the front end and carrying it through to the back with the exhaust. I know Vance & Hines has a set of black pipes, but they don't have a 4 inch muffler. $1,100 is an expensive gamble. I might call Casey back up at Samson's headquarters and turn him onto this thread and ask for some sort of reassurance that they aren't gonna steam roll me if the pipes aren't all they claim to be.

I have Samson slip-on mufflers and have had no problems. Sound great and no discoloring issues. They were on the bike when I purchased it, I don't know how many miles are on them but I've put on over 6k+ this year alone.

Because of what I read hear I'll stay clear of the true dual header pipes from them though.

I had them on my Honda. They sounded great but blued at the joint where the tail pipe slips into the head pipe. The heat shield did not extend far enough. That sounds like a complaint but is not, since I knew going in that the blueing would happen (I have the same blueing on my current tail pipes). They were cheap to buy and sounded great, so I bought them and was happy.

most exhaust manufacturers will tell you the same thing. thats because the tuning of the bike is something that is beyond their control. they can make the best pipe in the world, but your bike could be tuned nuclear hot and make them discolor. i have only seen one pipe manufacturer warrant against discoloration, and i forget who it was, but basically, their exhaust was a pipe within a pipe, full coverage 360* heatshield, non removeable.

the stock bracket on the transmission for the stock pipes is no longer needed when Samson True Duals are installed.

at one time long in the past there was an issue of customer service and you are right, we did have what is called growing pains. this is non existant today. we have some of the best customer service a company has had. we have greatly improved in this area.
