well after 2 and 1/2 weeks the dealer got to my bike. the rear piston was melted on one side. it should be done next week. they did not have a 103 jug in stock. they said i should put a tuner on the bike. said i could get one at cost $290.00 and would map it for free. what do you all think? should they have given me a loner? its a 08 under warranty. thanks

In your warranty contract wording, was there any talk of a loaner bike to be given in case your own bike was down for some sort of failure that would require a extended stay at the dealer? If there is.....then yes they should have given you a loaner.....if not....well then I guess its up to the dealer if they want to extend some sort of favor to you.
IMO, the melted down the side piston isn't because you were out of tune. It was caused by an intake leak. I am fairly knowledgeable on HD melted pistons from intake leaks.....I have done it twice. LOL.

Is this the same shop that installed it in the first place? You say the bike has 11k miles... is that on the motor ~ as built? If not, how many on the build?
I agree the the cause is either from an intake leak or tune issue. You have to be running pretty lean to generate that much heat.
Either way, I would be suspect of the quality work and attention (or lack there of) to detail of the original installer.
