caution with factory harley windshield especially on road king classic..it is coated with a very thin film..trying to remove anything more than a tiny minute nothing caused streaks visible with polarized glasses..and you could actually see the that film was missing in the areas polished...i made it better afterwards by using meguiars plastx on the entire shield until the film rubbed off...if you look at someones harley shield on the edges you can notice the film sometimes

Read in a bike mag recently about replacement shields that have a super tough coating on them. Its supposed to be the same coating used in NASCAR on their windshields. Tough enough to withstand steel wool. I'm still tring to find the d@%n issue.

My step son came up once with his Talon. The headlights looked like crap, so I handed him a rag and some of that Novus stuff. He works at NASA on space suits and said that's the same stuff they use on the helmet visors.

Personally, I've found the best way to fix it is to buy a new windshield.

I got a 17" F4 Customs shield for my RK in Mil WI at the 105th. They had a crazy set up with a windshiled wiper that had steel wool attached to it wiping against the windshield. It wasnt scratching with the steel wool I grabbed one....and I love the damn thing!

Wax bad and causes micro-swirls which get worse with repeated waxing. Something wrong with good ole soap & water and a chammy?

My step son works with the astronauts' space suits for NASA. They use the Novus stuff on the face shields.
