That's what I told my wife, hence the 09 FLHTP in the garage next to the old (95) FLHTP ( the one with the push button latch). Can't believe she fell for it.

Mine was sticking, and I bent the spring piece a little bit to increase the pressure on the latch. Now when I press the button, it pops right open!

Had two of them and both broke. Let me know if you still like it when it breaks and you can't put gas in. LOL
Good luck, I'll keep the lock on mine. It's there for a reason you know.

Open your gas door and look down at the bottom and you will see a small slot that is open to the front of the gas tank. That slot is there if the lock or push button will not work. Hold a flash light down in front of the tank and look down the slot and it will make sense.

Bought mine a month after I got my bike. Was low on gas, forgot my key and couldn't make it home. Ended up using a paper clip to get into it. The lock isn't all that
secure anyway. One of the best mods to date. Grin "every time" I open the door!

Did that about a week after I bought my scoot. I hated having to reach for the key every time I wanted to fill up.

I have been waiting to see if anybody complained about it.

Why does the stock lid have a lock anyway?
Any barrell key will open it. It doesn't even have to be an HD barrell key. Any barrell will do it.
