Bigsky....look at it this way - some Dad is thankin' ya fer payin' fer his boys' HS football uniform!<G> Ah run 35-45k/year, don't git nearly as many tickets as ah deserve....but it's still YER fault!!!
You'll hear cops spew their self righteous crap, but he probably drove off going as fast as he just gave you a ticket for driving. He wouldn't have given his buddy or his buddie's family member a ticket. they have their excuses for that too. Most cops are crooks with badges. Not all, but most. Double standards don't get any respect from me. You hit a cop he shoots you and he gets off for self defense or at the very worst loses his job. A cop hits you and you shoot him you are behind bars for a long time.
The good thing we have going for us in Texas is that the posted speed limit, by law, is only the "presumed safe driving speed limit". The presumption can sway things both ways. If there is heavy rain or ice on the roadways the safe limit can be much lower. On a bright, dry Sunday morning with no other traffic present, one could sucessfully argue that the presumed safe driving speed is higher than the posted limit. Not that I'd like to go to the hassle of testing that argument mind you.
If I remember correctly that's what's called prima facie.
Unfortunately doesn't seem to apply much anymore.

I'm guessing you have had number of encounters with law enforcement, and let me guess, you never did a single thing wrong and treated all the officers with nothing but politeness and cooperation.
The whole speed thing is a joke. The only reason there are posted speed limits is for the IDIOTS out there that can't drive, Try telling me the skill level is the same for 2 people doing 10 mph over, Dale Jr. and a 16 year old on the phone while driving with a boom box on and 3 other girls in the car !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your driving speed should be set by your skill level, just like your credit score is set by how well you pay your bills. My $.02
Why do I have visions of a bunch of people driving around at 12mph based on their skill level
As for writing tickets to raise money, for each ticket our agency writes our department gets a hole $3 bucks. The rest goes to your judges and the county. So maybe you should change it from buying HS jerseys to judges robes.
