Cops have tolerances in all jurisdictions. The general rule is 10 and start writing at 11. It also allows the Court a little room for downward departures. Most Courts do not want to see tickets under 10 unless there is a second violation. ROADKINGCOP's post is on the mark. He is looking for reckless drivers. As a former LEO, ticket writing is not something we like to do, but a response to excessive speed complaints.
Well I got busted last Sunday driving my daughters Suv. On an Indian reservation going 61 in a 35, This is in the middle of nothing but cactus and rattle snakes. The res cop I hope will give me warning, NO he writes me for 54 in a 35 and says have a nice day.
So I'm pissed but buy the time I got home I am thinking WTF I was speeding he lowered it to less then 20 over saving me a BIG fine. I pay $95 to the Tribal Court nothing goes on my license if I behave for one year while on Indian land. In the end I got less then what I deserved the LEO was doing his job.
If you want to speed expect to pay when you get busted.
Nah, bud - it's all good here. Ta be honest, ah wuz a tad surprised by yer post - you've always been a "stand-up" type. Like the others, ah missed that tongue in yer cheek. But now that ah've noticed it, ah'm gonna give ya chit!<SEG>
Last one I got (years back) I plead guilty and ask the Judge if he would "take it under advisement". Which means you pay the fine but if you stay violation free for a given amount of time.... 90 days, 6 months, a year etc. The the violation is dropped. No points and no insurance increase
I have a friend who was arrested for robbing a bank. Heck, it was a small bank and nobody got hurt. I tell ya, some LEOs just go way overboard with arresting people.
Doesn't even apply..stupid comment.
There are instances where its a rural 2 way straight ahead road, no houses, no people just hay fields etc... if that speed difference occured there, there should be some common sense applied. If however the 17mph over occurred in what is called urban compact or some other humanity/automotive filled area, then 17 mph is huge.
OK, I had it coming, enough already! I'm just wondering how many of these guys were like me when they were a kid, and did something bad. They knew they did something bad, and their Dad gave em a damn good whoppin'. I'm sure they all said "Thanks alot Dad, I really deserved that"
I'm sorry I even mentioned it... Geez, this place is getting way too sensitive. Checks in the mail....[/QUOTE]
When I was young and dumb (as opposed to old and dumb) I was about 23 and in the US Army and tooling around the local neighborhood in my souped up 1965 Mustang 302 with 60's on the back, 70's on the front and cragars all around, dual exhaust with glass packs. I got pulled over by the local sheriff (Ft Hood,Killen,Texas)for 12-15 miles over the posted 25MPH. I wasn't cocky and realized I had gotten caught up in the moment of the new look of my ride. When the sheriff walked over and asked "what the hell're you doing boy! What is your problem!" He was pissed. I stated that "I had just got all this stuff put on my car and I wanted people to see it, so I was driving fast and rapping my glass packs." He was truly taken back by the honesty and gave me a pass/warning. He said my honesty was refreshing and unexpected. He thought I was gonna give him attitude and BS. That wouldn't be the last time being upfront about speeding got me a break.
Don't get me wrong...I'm not rolling over every time a cop gets in my grill. I've also told state/local/county police/sheriffs to go fk themselves to.
Well Tex, it's nice to have you back! Never hurts to throw a fly or two in the batter and see what kind of flapjacks you're going get... This particular one has been party dang intrusting!
one word......sucks!
you got busted for speeding....gettin a hard time here.....and you still gotta pay!
i know you were frustrated and i'm sure you posted on here to hopefully make yourself feel better by getting someone to agree with ya and now look.......
haha
take care bro.
